In 1963, Woolworth purchased the Kinney Shoe Corporation and operated as a subsidiary. In 1960, Kinney branched into special shoe stores, including Stylco in 1967, Susie Casuals in 1968, and Foot Locker in 1974.
Woolworth also diversified its portfolio of stores in 1980, between thoughts and reflections of the North, and Sports Elysées. In 1989, the company has pursued an aggressive strategy of multiple specialty store formats targeted at enclosed shopping centers. The idea was that if a particular concept, has not given in a shopping center, the company could quickly replace with a different concept. The company aims for 10 stores in each of the most important commercial centers of the country, but this did not happen, why Woolworths has successfully developed that many forms of specialty store.
In 1988, the FW Woolworth Company setting up a separate company called "Woolworth Corporation" in upstate New York. The Woolworth Corporation was responsible for the operations of the Foot Locker stores, among other specialty groups operated by Woolworth's. One of his first moves was the acquisition of Champs Sports, and renamed the Woolworth Athletic Group.
